Tree Conservation Commission Members
The Tree Commission has 15 positions, eight of which are appointed by the Mayor and seven that are appointed by the City Council. The Tree Ordinance requires that each member have specialized knowledge of trees, the tree ordinance, or the impact of construction activities on trees. The membership must also include the following representatives in the following positions (appointing authority noted in italics):
1. One Registered Architect or Architectural Designer (Mayor)
2. One Residential, Commercial, or Industrial Builder (Mayor)
3. One ISA-cert Arborist (Mayor)
5. One Urban or Env Planner or Ecologist (Mayor)
6. One Attorney w/exp land use, env protection, or related (Mayor)
7. Lay Citizen Interested in env protection (1 of 2) (Mayor)
8. Lay Citizen interested in env protection (2 of 2) (Mayor)
9. One Residential, Commercial, or Industrial Builder (Mayor) (Council)
10. Member community organizations interested in env. protection (1 of 2) (Council)
11. Member community organizations interested in env. protection (2 of 2 (Council)
12. Member appointed by the paired districts in consultation with the At-Large City Councilmember: Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 and at-large post 1 (Winston, K Bond, Amos, Dozier and M Bond)
13. Member appointed by the paired districts in consultation with the At-Large City Councilmember: Districts 5, 6, 7, and 8, and at-large post 2 (Bakhtiari, Wan, Worthy, Norwood, and Westmoreland)
